Hazardous Material

Adverse environmental impacts, the health & safety of building occupants, the diligence of a property owner or manager and government intervention are drivers behind the sampling and management of hazardous material. Purchasers of a property and their financial institutions need to determine the financial liabilities related to hazardous material, such as complaints to worker health and safety boards, rental boards, legal non compliance and good management. Industrial facilities may seek to reduce their environmental footprint through elimination or reduction of hazardous chemical usage and polluting discharges.

Asbestos survey, lead survey, mould assessment
The hazardous material survey consists of visual inspection and bulk sampling of building components for the presence or absence of asbestos-containing material (ACM), lead-containing material (LCM) and mould-impacted material. Based on the findings, APEXIOS develops a site-specific hazardous material management plan to minimize risks associated with hazardous materials.
Survey of other hazardous materials
Other hazardous material surveys may be performed depending on client needs. These surveys may consists of visual inspection of equipment containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and halocarbons such as ozone-depleting substances & global-warming gases (ODS & GWG). The hazardous material survey may include the sampling and characterization of residual hazardous materials (formerly hazardous wastes). Based on the findings, APEXIOS develops a site-specific hazardous material management plan to minimize risks associated with hazardous materials.
Pollution prevention study for industrial facilities
Pollution prevention studies conducted by APEXIOS typically consist of an assessment of building components, process equipment & procedures and handling & storage procedures. The goal of the work is to identify ways to minimize the generation of hazardous waste, air and liquid emissions and odours. A notable spin-off of pollution prevention is often cost-savings for the client, thus presenting significant advantages from both environmental and financial perspectives.
Regulatory reporting and permitting
Working closely with the client, APEXIOS develops environmental policies and procedures that are consistent with the client's corporate culture, budget allowances and risk tolerance. The policies and procedures reflect environmental regulations, due diligence requirements and best management practices. In addition, APEXIOS communicates on the behalf of clients to regulatory authorities for issues related to obligatory reporting and permitting.
